THE ANGELS KEEP THEIR ANCIENT PLACES

Between Sunday September 26th and Sunday October 3rd, St. Michael-on-Greenhill in Lichfield is planning a Michaelmas celebration, under the title “The angels keep their ancient places”, primarily to mark the restarting of many of its activities as the pandemic eases. A series of events is being planned that should appeal to a wide variety of different groups, which includes services of worship, family activities, evening talks and church and churchyard tours. The talks are all angel themed and will be held at 8.00pm each evening from Monday 27th September to Friday 1st October, both in person in the church (less Monday and Friday), and live streamed via Zoom.

Monday - Dr. Joanne Allen - Angels in art - five things you didn’t know about angels

Tuesday - Dr. Trevor James - St. Michael. History and Theology

​Wednesday – Rev. Prof. Chris Baker - St Michael’s Angels - the 19th century clergy and their parish

Thursday – Major Ted Green - The Angel of Mons (Spirituality and the Great War)

Friday –Rev. Dr Stephen Barton - Angels in Scripture


Three tours will be organised.

Sunday September 26th 2.30pm Guided tour of the church building by Chris Baker

Friday October 1st 10.00am Guided Tour of the trees in the churchyard by Ray Allen

Saturday October 2nd 2.30pm Guided tour of the churchyard by Trevor James

There is no charge for the talks and tours, but we do ask attendees to book for planning purposes. More details of the tours, talks and the speakers, and the booking form can be found at the event web site.
