Late Night Listeners

This is a cross church initiative that provides a strong Christian presence in the city every Saturday (and some Friday) nights. The focus is on helping people get home safely after a night out. Refreshments, flip flops and a place of calm are provided by a team of about 6.

The streets are 'patrolled' to support revellers in need of help and a 'base' is set up outside The Little Desert shop.

Importantly, the scheme provides a listening ear to those who need it - this service is frequently used.

Now in its 10th year, Late Night Listeners continues to operate effectively. There are 20 regular volunteers involved on a rota basis (more are needed) and the teams operate from about 10pm till 1.30am.

Late Night Listeners are well known and appreciated in the city.  Strong relationships have been developed with door staff and due to Police cutbacks, Late Night Listeners are often the only group left on the streets on a Saturday night.

Every Saturday night invariably gives at least one team member the opportunity to talk about their faith.
