Wednesday 6th April 202219:30CITIZENS PARLIAMENT AT LICHFIELD CATHEDRAL
Come and hear Canon Mark Russell, the Chief Executive of The Children’s Society, talk about his organisation’s ten-yearstudy of childhood and youth in the UK and the campaign he is starting to end children living in poverty by 2030. Christian social teaching echoes Jesus’s words (St John 10:10) “I come that you may have life and have it abundantly”. The Cathedral will be inviting young people, local politicians, leaders in education, social care and youth and community services, along with school governors, teachers, clergy, officials from our diocese and members of local churches to come and take part in the evening. Please spread the word and invite friends and contacts in the community to attend. ALL ARE WELCOME. The Dean will chair the event. We hope to have a panel of expert guests to respond to our main speaker and stimulate discussion. The outcome of the meeting will be sent to local MPs, local authorities and regional and national church bodies. It will also be a stimulus to local, practical action and generosity, not least the Cathedral’s project to set up a mental health and wellbeing drop-in centre for children and young people later this year.
