Introducing... the Choral Evensong Trust Patronal Festival Grants 2025
As we head towards Compline this evening, we reflect on today, in which we have celebrated the Feast of St Cecilia, the patron saint of music.
On St Cecilia’s Day nine years ago, the Choral Evensong Trust was launched. On this, our own patronal feast day, we are delighted to announce the Patronal Festival Grants 2025.
We are excited to offer five £500 grants to parish churches to host services of choral evensong for your 2025 patronal festivals. Whether your church is familiar with these traditions or exploring them for the first time, this is your chance to create a truly memorable celebration.
Recent events, like the St Michael and all Angel’s (Dinder, near Wells) Michaelmas evensong, drew over 90 attendees and brought new faces into the church community.
This grant covers:
- A choral evensong sung by a visiting choir (several excellent regional and London based choirs have already indicated a willingness to engage with this!)
- A festive reception with complimentary food and drinks
- Optional activities like bell-ringing, children’s events, or local pilgrimages
You can host these services on or near your patronal festival date, although a number of saints’ days fall on Sundays, including:
St David – 1 March
St Peter – 29 June
St Anne – 26 July
St Francis of Assisi – 4 October
Bring your community together in celebration and joy.
