Due to the nature of the event and for the comfort of all, only certified working assistance dogs will be allowed to attend the Christmas Light Show - both outside and inside.

Tickets Holders for Saturday 21 December: It has come to our attention there is a planned Tractor Run due to take place on Saturday 21st December from 17:00 - 18:30. This will involve a 70 Tractor convoy moving around the city centre (but not in the Cathedral Close) visiting various areas.

We advise that ticket holders leave themselves plenty of time to get to the city centre, park and be ready to present themselves at the entrance at Dam Street in time for their allotted show time. Roads and access to car parks are likely to be busier than normal. It is important to note that we will not be able to let ticket holders in early.

The 12 Days of Christmas

This year’s light show is themed with the 12 Days of Christmas in mind – with a Lichfield Cathedral twist, of course.

The Light Show runs from 16-22 December from 17:30 and is hugely popular, with people travelling from all over the region to experience this joyful celebration of Christmas.

Beginning at the Dam Street entrance to the Cathedral Close, ticket holders will be greeted by the friendly team of volunteers and will embark on a journey of wonder. First stop will be the light show projected on to the former Bishop’s Palace, then on to the show-stopping West Front show. Ticket holders then continue inside the Cathedral where local choirs will be singing popular carols and there is a chance to visit the ever-popular Christmas Tree Festival. Viewing the Crib Scene gives people an opportunity to reflect, and candles will be available for anyone who wishes to light a candle, perhaps in memory of those we will miss at Christmas, but also as a sign of hope.

Along the journey, both inside and outside the Cathedral, will be a 12 Days of Christmas trail to follow, exploring the meaning behind each of the 12 days and giving visitors an opportunity to reflect and make pledges into the coming year.
