Kingdom over Nation

An ecumenical response to Christian Nationalism with contributions from across the traditions curated by Churches Together in England.

Kingdom over Nation – Churches Together in England’s (CTE) resource on Christian Nationalism has not emerged suddenly or in reaction to a single event. Rather, it has grown out of a sustained period of reflection and response across the ecumenical landscape.

Our Member Churches are committed to the flourishing of God’s Kingdom through the church in our nation, and by the conviction that this must always trump any form of national identity politics that might be used, in some quarters, to divide and ‘other’ people.

CTE has been asked by a number of representatives from our Member Churches to create theological and pastoral resources to help church leaders navigate conversations around Christian Nationalism. This area of the CTE website contains those resources. In it you will find:

  • The Kingdom over Nation Bible study series
  • video resources
  • regional or local Churches Together group statements about Christian Nationalism

We hope these resources will help churches to hold honest, informed and pastoral conversations that strengthen unity within the body of Christ and nurture peace within our communities.
