The evening started off fairly cold with the wind rain blowing like a good 'un. Thankfully the rain stopped as we settled into the night shift but the streets were, surprisingly, fairly empty considering it was the last Saturday in the month and hence, pay-day for many people.
We were visited by some young lads who were very interested in and supportive of the volunteering work we do. On one of our patrols around the City, we came across Marcus, who lives on a narrow boat at Fradley Junction and cycles into Lichfield, he has been a regular at our table for a couple of years now. A discussion ensued as he explained he was worried about leaks with the Winter weather approaching.
A mental health nurse, Bev, was celebrating with friends after finishing cancer treatment. We provided the hot drinks and listening ears as she explained that the therapy had gone well but she had had to give up her job. Two of our team members (husband and wife), were celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary this very night and were joined by their son and family who were out on the town. In the last hour, things got much busier and our new airpot was at full throttle dispensing many a cuppa.
