LATE NIGHT LISTENERS - REPORT FOR SATURDAY 25TH APRIL

The Gang of Four, unfortunately being one man down, set off for the town centre shortly after 10.15 pm. It was a fairly mild, dry, and clear night.....Low, Rockall, 987, deepening rapidly, expected Fair Isle 964

As the group was setting up our stall for the night, a random man gave us a donation of twenty pounds (a heartwarming start to the night's festivities).

Being a person short we decided to keep any patrols very brief and not too far from the table.

A very friendly and chatty lady from Huntingdon in Cannock, chose to spend some time with us. She really couldn't believe that we were doing what we do as volunteers.

Two Polish gentlemen, who looked like nightclub bouncers, stopped by. And man, were they big!. When asked if he wanted sugar in his coffee, one of them remarked that it would "not be good for his six pack", which he then went on to proudly display to us.

Our four person team turned into a five person one when we were joined by another team member just after 11pm.

Two friendly, young lads from Uttoxeter called by and also remained with us for a while. One was quite drunk but friendly, the other was the designated driver, so was staying tea- total. He had forgotten that it was his friend's birthday, so had rushed off from where he was (at the swimming baths). We knew this as he was standing there still with his swimming shorts as he hadn't had time to change.

There was a bit of physical aggression kicking off near Bar Home but the boys in blue soon turned up to deal with the scallywags.

One set of flip flops were gratefully received by a lady in bare feet and no sick bowls were called for this night.

Our traditional box of fresh cooked fries arrived, supplied by doorman Bobby at about 12.45.

As there was a convenient lull in passers-by, we decided to head back to base just after 1am.
