MESSAGE FROM THE COMMUNITY CAMPAIGNER

I’d like to introduce myself, Maria, and my colleague, Tom. Since May this year, we have been working on a project to end food poverty in Lichfield District. The Community Campaigner role is funded by Trussell Trust and being delivered by Citizens Advice South East Staffordshire (CASES). The ultimate aim of the project over the next couple of years is to identify local issues driving financial difficulties and then work with stakeholders to reduce/eliminate them, thereby reducing the poverty being experienced by people in Lichfield District.

Whilst we are spending time at Lichfield Foodbank sessions talking to clients and volunteers, we are aware that, as well as issuing food vouchers, much good work is also being undertaken in churches and the community to help people.

We are also aware that many churches are running groups, including warm spaces and community activities which would be beneficial for clients to help with isolation, mental health and general wellbeing.

We’d love to know about what regular events/groups you have which would be accessible by clients of the foodbank, so would appreciate you letting us know all about them, a poster would be great if you have one. Also we'd love to be able to speak to you if you are offering food support in the Lichfield District outside of issuing foodbank vouchers, so do let us know if you are making food provision directly and we'll make arrangements to chat with you about them.

We look forward to hearing back from you via email. (mariap@casestaffs.org.uk & tomp@casestaffs.org.uk)
