On Saturday 2nd November 2024, Lichfield Quakers held a vigil for peace at The Friary Remains opposite the former library building from 11:00am to 12:00pm. Despite the gloom of the November weather, we were supported by friendly car horns and inquisitive and smiling bypassers.
A spokesperson for Lichfield Quakers said, “A single sign stating ‘imagine peace’ was on display at the event.’ One bypasser remarked, ‘That is sometimes hard to do with the present state of the world.’ Quakers are known for not taking the easy option! Two important qualities to survive in today’s world are hope and imagination. Hope to believe we can change the world and imagination to find ways to do so.
